Kingsbury North to Spooner South TRT on Wednesday, August 18th

We're going to do the Kingsbury North to Spooner South TRT hike this Wednesday, August 18th!  According to AllTrails (usually pretty accurate as long as we stay on the trail) it's 12.5 miles and 1600 feet of climbing. According to the TRT website, it's 14.7 miles, Easy to Moderate.

The parking spots are easy to find on this one as they are
Kingsbury North  and Spooner South. I know...nice to have Google Maps links, right!

BTW, if you donated to TRTs 40 miles in 40 years campaign, I've got your Tee shirt for you (if you already didn't get it). I'll give you yours that morning (if you're joining us on the hike) or anytime you want (just let me know when).  Our team donated $1200 which is GREAT! TRT has asked that we all wear our Tee shirts and get a group picture for their website. How fun it is to be hiking superstars! I was thinking we could bring both our Tessie's Tees and our TRT tees and take pictures in both and submit them to TRT (as long as no one minds changing their shirt in the middle of the forest).

It's going to take about an hour to get to our start point (dropping off one car at the end point). I'm going to try to get Steve and/or Wes to think of it as a fun male bonding activity to bring us to the start in the morning which would save some time on the way back. Let me know if you've got a resident in your house willing to drop us off at the start point early in the morning. We can find enough big cars to drive. The issue is finding people who love us enough to drive about 2 hours early in the morning.

As we found out on our last long hike (that ended up to be longer than I advertised) there are a few essentials we should definitely include in our bags...
1. MORE than enough WATER. I'm a big water drinker and brought 7 (I think they are 22oz each) water bottles for our 15 mile hike and it was just enough to share a little with a teammate at the end. Our team was out of water at the end. So, make sure and pack a lot of water for these hikes in hot weather. No one will drink as much water as I do, but please bring lots of water.
2. ELECTROLYTES: I put Skratch powder in my water bottles last week. Use whatever you want, but electrolytes aren't going to hurt you on a long hike.

In addition, bring..

1. Bottled water (like a gallon or so) that we can leave at the trailheads and become trail angels!

2. Your Tessies' shirt and your 4o miles in 40 years Tee shirts...whatever you've got. If you don't have them, we'll let you be the photographer!

I don't think the blog says who wrote this...Lori
