We're going to do the middle segment of the Mt. Rose Summit to Brockway Summit hike this coming Wednesday, September 22nd. I've added the picture Jane drew for me a few months ago to show you where we'll be going.
It says 6.7 miles, but it looks like it'll be closer to 8.5 miles because there's about a 1.5 mile hike up Gray Lake Trail to get to the TRT.
Jane will be our leader (thank heaven!). Jane will give us more specifics. Here's what I'm thinking though...we'll meet at a parking area (details forthcoming) off Mt. Rose Hwy at 8:00am (how does that sound?). We'll hike the Gray Lake Trail (uphill hike) to the TRT. Once at the TRT, we'll head downhill from there to the Martis trailhead (where our group has parked before when we hiked from Martis trailhead to Brockway summit).
Email me (lori.r.bard@gmail.com) if you're in. It's important to know how many are in so we can figure out how many cars are needed at the endpoint. Also, let me know if you're willing to drive over early in the morning with me and leave one of our cars at the endpoint. Then, when the hike is done, we can all drive to Mt. Rose Hwy where the cars are parked at our starting point. An alternative will be if we can get some folks to pick us up at the endpoint and drive us to our cars.
